CESAR MONTANO

Lately lang sa isang umpukan ay natanong si Cesar “Buboy” Montano kung papano siya napapayag na gawin ang isang drama thriller na Biktima opposite award-winning actress Angel Aquino.

       Alam naman natin na mas associated si Buboy sa mga action films kung saan doon nga siya sumikat at nagkaroon ng malaking pangalan. Sabi niya na simula’t-sapul ay ayaw na niya talagang ma-stereotyped o madikahon.

“Mahirap ma-stereotyped coz malilimita ang iyong capasidad para gumawa ka ng kakaibang role. Noon pa ay ganun na talaga ang tingin ko sa sining ng pag-arte at salamat sa Dios may mga oportunidad naman which came my  way para ma-try ko ang iba’t- ibang genre,” sabi pa ni Buboy.

Naniniwala kami na sa ngayon si Cesar Montano ay isa sa few versatile actors in the business. ‘Ika nga he walks his talk. He is multi-talented personified. Aktor-direktor na, singer pa. May regular gig siya sa sarili niyang resto-bistro Bellissimo around Morato, Q.C. area.

 Last year ibinoto namin siya as Best Male Performer, Acoustic Category para sa 3^rd  PMPC Star Awards for Music.

Dahil galing din siya sa teatro hindi nakakapagtaka kung bakit on the side acting mentor/facilitator din siya. I had the rare chance to invite Cesar Montano as facilitator thru colleague Vir Mateo  in one acting workshop on behalf of Balintataw Film and Theater Arts of UNESCO-Phil. Center for International Theater Institute which I organized with Dr. Marcelino Cavestany, Jr., now an Australian émigré, for Gardo Versoza’s discoverer Carlo Finioni at Kamuning.   

As committed artist for film Cesar Montano has been tapped as UNESCO’s spokesperson in that direction. Buboy’s direction of multi-awarded Panaghoy Sa Suba in Cebuano language made it to Cannes exhibition.  Isa rin siya ngayon sa mga judges/mentors ng Artista Academy ng TV5.

Buboy reunited with Director RD Alba, his associate producer of Panaghoy and director of Biktima to which he waived his talent fee, saying: “ Subok na ang aming samahan ni Direk RD.” Incidentally, Director RD Alba’s portfolio include among others, being mentored by Hollywood’s greats like Philip Noyce (director of Clear and Present Danger, Bone Collector, and Salt), Donald Petrie (director of Grumpy Old Men and Miss Congeniality), and Jon Amiel (director of Entrapment, Copycat and Tudors).      

No wonder Biktima showed Director RD Alba’s  flair for one who knows his craft well like the palm of his hand, congratulations!

Excited sobra si Cesar Montano sa biopic na ididirek niya para kay Mayor Lim. Excited din daw siya na mag-host uli ng isang charity-oriented musical show tulad ng ginawa niya noon sa ABS-CBN dahil  maraming nagbe-benefit pati na ang mga home viewers.
