Vice-Gov. Daniel Fernando
Award-winning and respected movie
actor Vice-Governor Daniel Fernando aka in real life Cesar Ramirez just came in
most recently from Hongkong. In our tete-a-tete with the actor we learned of
his short stint in Hongkong as guest speaker where he delivered an
inspirational elevating message as well for our fellow kababayans there mostly
Overseas Filipino Workers.
This
was upon the invitation of Mitel Ladines,  president of Survivor Association of
Hongkong.  Said event was held at Sai
Ying Pun Community Center Banharm Road, Midlland, Hongkong on the occasion of
the association’s First Anniversary Celebration. The Survivor Association
Hongkong is known for their advocacy among others in helping fellow OFWs in conflict
with their working conditions in there. They go through lengths as to provide
free legal services to those who are victims of exploitations by their
employers. They also make representations on behalf of the Filipino workers
there with the Philippine Embassy as well as other nationalities.Survivor
Hongkong does not limit their advocacy merely in Hongkong.
During
calamities back home in the country they also extend their helping hand to the
victims in the form of donations in cash or in kind considering that their
organization is also a charitable one that includes giving aid to people in
deplorable health situations. In fact in the past years Survivor Hongkong has
made the constituents of Vice-Governor Daniel Fernando of Calumpit, Bulacan beneficiary
of their noble Samaritan gestures giving aid to calamity victims and the sickly
included.
Pres.
Ladines and his Board Members including
friends and supporters of said organization could not thank Vice-  Gov. Fernando enough who went out of his way
to reach out to OFWs in Hongkong on behalf of his Bulacan constituents who also
benefited from their charitable projects. Some OFWs were touched to tears when Vice-Gov.
Fernando  re-affirmed their sacrifices to
work abroad leaving their families back home and contributing as well to keep
our country’s economy afloat despite issues of corruption currently happening
in the country. And for which Vice-Gov. Fernando was given a plaque of
appreciation by Survivor Assoc. Hongkong.
In
the last three years, Vice-Gov. Fernando has received various recognitions,
citations and awards for his exemplary performance and accomplishments, one of
which was  as “Most Outstanding Public Servant of 2012” given by the Gawad
Amerika Foundation, Inc., an organization of Filipino-Americans living in the
United States of America. The award only reaffirmed   his
outstanding performance and a  testimony
of his deep commitment and dedication to serve his constituents in the province
of Bulacan.
For
the uninformed, Vice- Gov. Fernando is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in
Electronics and Communication Engineering degree at the University of the East
in 1992. His stint as a public servant began in 1980 when he was elected
Kabataan Barangay chairman of his own barangay. The rest is history and still
counting for more headed in the direction of a higher position. And why not,
his exemplary track records say it all.
