At the height of  Barack Obama’s and Mitt Romney’s heated bid for the US presidency, biglang naging favorite ko si Pres. Obama pagkatapos kong napanood si Romney sa You Tube sa interbyu  niya ng Fox kung saan lumabas ang kanyang pagiging fundamentalista as anti-gay marriage crusader sa America.

  Think witchhunting during the dark ages.

          No, hindi ako American citizen, pero ang blog/column  na ito which can be read also on the internet can move the index fingers of my relatives and friends, among many others,  in USA to push Pres. Obama for a second term.

So many of them like fulfilled father Jojo Valenton, Asian filmfest initiator Mauro Feria Tumbokon, cultural animator in San Francisco Eppie Rafanan, Frankie Frilles, actress Lorli Villanueva and daughter Princess in New York, the famous Manila gay bar proprietor Jackson in the 70s, my pinsan Ihman Isturco,  ex-movie reporter Philip Garcia who re-invented himself as Coco Mitzui now based in New York, beauty guru/expert Rose Alcido, theater artist  Mike Braganza of La Mama Theater, ETC. in New York and  home to theater artists from the National Artist for Theater Cecile Guidote’s turf in the Philippines including us, etc.

Vis-à-vis  sa nasabing furor over choosing the  next US President,  pinahiram naman ako ng orig CD (hindi pirated, ha?) billed Love Of Siam ni katotong Roel Villacorta right after I came out of  Dolphy Theater where all roads led to the humongous pa-presscon of Manay Ethel Ramos and Eric John Salut for the first team-up of Erich Gonzales and Thai young gentleman and Superstar Mario Maurer para sa pelikulang Suddenly It’s Magic which is showing now in over 100 theaters nationwide.

Sa mga hindi nakakaalam, ang Thai actor na si Mario Maurer made a dent already locally nung naging entry ang Love Of Siam ng Thailand sa Cinemanila International Film Festival ni Direk Tikoy Aguiluz a few  years back.

At nanalo pa siya as Best Actor hands down pag-recall pa ng founding director/president ng nasabing filmfest na si Direk Tikoy. Hindi nga lang nakarating si Mario Maurer sa awards night.

Why I’m belaboring Pres. Barack Obama and Thai Superstar Mario Maurer? Obviously,  they are both pro-LGBT (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgender). Straight silang dalawa but their heart and soul go for the LGBT community, see? Otherwise, hindi gagawin ni Mario Maurer ang Love For Siam considering that Thailand is such a conservative country.

 Ang Love of Siam ni Mario Maurer ay isang landmark movie that tells of a gay romance between two boys.  It dominated Thailand's 2007 film awards season, winning the Best Picture and Best Actor category in all major events especially for Mario. It gathered more awards in  other Asian filmfests.

MARIO AND ERICH GONZALES

Love For Siam somehow loosened up the homophobic in Thailand, including the Philippines. Kaya nga si Mario Maurer has a great fan following even among the gay sectors in the country who considers Love For Siam as a cult film led no less by our colleague Roel Villacorta.

 Catch up on Mario Maurer at our local cinema on the Undas week and find out kung bakit siya ay tinaguriang Supestar ng Thailand. Other than female lead  Erich Gonzales, in the major supporting cast are Joross Gamboa, Joy Viado, Kakai Bautista, Dionne Monsanto, Dinkee Doo and Ces Quesada.  And yes vote Barack Obama too for his second term.
