GOV. JEORGE “ER” EJERCITO PUTS TIKOY AGUILUZ ALONGSIDE ICONIC HOLLYWOOD DIRECTORS

DIRECTOR TIKOY AGUILUZ
GOV. JEORGE "ER" EJERCITO
Noon kasing nagkademandahan pa sila Direk Tikoy at  Gov. “ER,” for reasons of technicality hindi naka-credit ang pangalan ng una bilang director.
Pero sa FAMAS mas klaro pa sa sikat ng araw nang binanggit officially as contender for Best Direction along with the others ang pangalan ni Direk Tikoy Aguiluz. Of course alam naman natin na water under the bridge na ang sigalot nila Direk Tikoy at Gov. “ER.”
To be compared to these Hollywood greats, my oh my!  It’s more than all of the five  awards gathered so far rolled into one  for our good friend Tikoy who is responsible for coming out with the masterful film at hand.
Asiong! Asiong!
Ang total of five major awards coming from prestigious award giving bodies collected by Asiong Salonga more than validated the phenomenal merits of the film in terms of commercial and critical acclaim as well. If  that’s not phenomenal to you, I don’t know what is?

CESAR MONTANO COLLABORATING WITH HOLLWOOD HOTSHOT DIRECTOR RD ALBA

By GEORGE VAIL KABRISTANTE
PMPC (Phil. Movie Press Club)

From my blog “ Manila Showbiz & Lifestyle” farmed out in different versions to www: pmpcstarnews.com Pilipino Mirror, Remate Online, Scandal, CMT (Columnists Monitoring Team) Update, etc.

CESAR MONTANO
‘Ika nga he walks his talk. He is multi-talented personified. Aktor-direktor na, singer pa. May regular gig siya sa sarili niyang resto-bistro Bellissimo around Morato, Q.C. area.
Last year ibinoto namin siya as Best Male Performer, Acoustic Category para sa 3rd  PMPC Star Awards for Music.
Dahil galing din siya sa teatro hindi nakakapagtaka kung bakit on the side acting mentor/facilitator din siya. I had the rare chance to invite Cesar Montano as facilitator thru colleague Vir Mateo  in one acting workshop on behalf of Balintataw Film and Theater Arts of UNESCO-Phil. Center for International Theater Institute which I organized with Dr. Marcelino Cavestany, Jr., now an Australian émigré, for Gardo Versoza’s discoverer Carlo Finioni at Kamuning.
As committed artist for film Cesar Montano has been tapped as UNESCO’s spokesperson in that direction. Buboy’s direction of multi-awarded Panaghoy Sa Suba in Cebuano language made it to Cannes exhibition.
CESAR MONTANO AND DIRECTOR RD ALBA
Buboy reunited with Director RD Alba, his associate producer of Panaghoy and director of Biktima to which he waived his talent fee, saying: “ Subok na ang aming samahan ni Direk RD.” Incidentally, Director RD Alba’s portfolio include among others, being mentored by Hollywood’s greats like Philip Noyce (director of Clear and Present Danger, Bone Collector, and Salt), Donald Petrie (director of Grumpy Old Men and Miss Congeniality), and Jon Amiel (director of Entrapment, Copycat and Tudors).
No wonder Biktima showed Director RD Alba’s  flair for one who knows his craft well like the palm of his hand, congratulations!

Pinay movie star of distinction ng Dubai I-NAPSTAGED LEGAL WIFE NI JOSE MARIE CHAN

MONTAGE

PMPC (Phil. Movie Press Club)
From my blog “ Manila Showbiz & Lifestyle” farmed out in different versions to www: pmpcstarnews.com Pilipino Mirror, Remate Online, Scandal, CMT (Columnists Monitoring Team) Update, etc.

Pinay movie star of distinction ng Dubai
I-NAPSTAGED  LEGAL WIFE NI JOSE MARIE CHAN

RHONA MAY MERCADO
Let me not jump the gun on her yet.
Nung si Rhona May ay finally binitawan ni Mr. Chan, biglang inabresiyete ito ng kanyang asawa who was waiting nearby. Parang eksena sa monster hit movie na The Mistress. After which nag-one liner si Rhona May, saying: “At least I have three minutes of fame with the one and only Jose Marie Chan at sana ay mag-rub on pa ang swerte ni Mr. Chan sa akin bilang isang comebacking movie star.”
RHONA MAY WITH JOSE MARIE CHAN
Twenty years na na-out of touch si Rhona May sa showbiz. Flashback: Rhona May jumpstarted her career as film and TV star in the late 80s to the 90s. Her most significant cameo role was in Director Celso Ad Castillo’s masterwork  “Pinakamagandang Hayop sa Balat Ng Lupa,” the film that launched  Miss Universe Gloria Diaz  opposite Vic Vargas.
Rhona  May  was twice the female lead of the films “Lady Commando” which she produced herself and  shown in 1988  with the special participation of  Dante Rivero and  “Sintigas Ng Bakal” directed by Teody Recio opposite Roland Dantes and  Gary Gallardo.
She went on to appear in several roles on TV with lead actors among others  Ernie Garcia, Tirso Cruz III, Michael de Mesa and Jun Aristorenas with whom she was rumored to carry a very complicated relationship that became a juicy fodder for showbiz.
Recalling, Rhona May said, “ Excuse me hindi ako naging mistress ni Jun (Aristorenas), girlfriend yes.”
So what’s the fuzz about Rhona May? She’s an epitome of a movie star who made good putting her experience as movie star in Dubai kung saan siya ay naging CEO rin ng isang kompanya na ang produkto ay strictly  pang-enhance as in pampasikip ng keps ng babae.
Casting pala si Rhona sa isang indie film billed Noli Me Tangere, a remake of Dr. Jose Rizal’s classic novel. Bongga ang comebacking movie ni Mama, ha?

BRAVO! BWAKAW REAPING GLOWING REVIEWS FROM OSCARS INSIDERS

DIRECTOR JUN LANA
And officially, the  Oscars has included it in their list for consideration.
It’s one big triumph  for Bwakaw to get the nod yet of the  FAP on the local level. In a manner of speaking, Bwakaw is up to conquer for next year’s  Oscars, the most prestigious award-winning body on this planet barring Cannes, Berlin, and a few more.
To recall and if you allow my writing in, I predicted that Bwakaw will get the most coveted People’s Choice Award, Best Actor for Eddie Garcia and another major award for Director Lana at the last Cinemalaya filmfest which it did prompting producer and TV5’s Head of Creative and Entertainment Perci Intalan to say na “nagdilang anghel daw ako.”
This early Bwakaw is making waves among the elite film critiques overseas.
FERDINAND LAPUZ
Ferdinand Lapuz in his facebook quoted the New York Film Society Assistant Program director Scott Foundas who praised and  called Bwakaw "the real discovery of the slate this year ... a totally surprising, lovely film [that] gives a sense of what life is like in this small Filipino town with quite a lot of comic relief, particularly in the form of an extravagant gay hairdresser and his transgendered companion. Nothing is overplayed and once the more dramatic strain of the film comes in, it’s handled in a very lovely fashion. It's one I think people are going to discover and like a lot."
Meanwhile, Lapuz continued to share what Welcome to The Season, the new FilmLinc.com section for year-end editorial coverage of everyone's favorite topics: awards, nominations and the best films of 2012 have to say!
Thusly, a whopping 50 of last year's Oscar nominations went to films that played in our festivals and theaters, and we're betting this year will be no different. So join us as we hash out all the nods, lauds, and snubs now through the end of The Season!
As submissions for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film continue to roll in, the competition is getting fiercer by the day. Official selections from the 50th New York Film Festivalare appearing time and time again—beginning with the early submissions of Michael Haneke'sAmour (Austria) and Christian Petzold's Barbara (Germany), through to Christian Mungiu's Beyond the Hills (Romania), Joachim Lafosse's Our Children (Belgium), and shortlisted titles including the Taviani brothers' Caesar Must Die (Italy), Pablo Larrain's No (Chile), and Rama Burshtein's Fill the Void (Israel), which we proudly announced on Friday. This trend continues with the Film Academy of the Phillipines announcement of Bwakaw as a contender for Oscar glory.
Starring renown Filipino actor Eddie Garcia and directed by Jun Robles Lana, Bwakaw is a drama-comedy that balances humor and moving truths in a story about aging alone. Following 70-year-old Rene, his stray dog, and a dramatic change in his outlook on life, Bwakaw has been critically lauded as a quiet triumph in acting and direction from an industry that has largely been overlooked in critical circles. Also an official selection of the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival, the film is certainly a notable submission.

Since Friday, Brazil has announced its shortlist of contenders, including Julia Murat's Found Memories. A magical, thought-provoking film about generational divides and cultural traditions,Found Memories screened as part of this year's New Directors/New Films festival.
In addition to Caesar Must Die, Italy has shortlisted a variety of films that screened in this year'sOpen Roads festival—including Guido Lombardi's Là-bas: A Criminal Education, Ferzan Ozpetek'sMagnificent Presence, and the modern tragedy Diaz: Don’t Clean Up This Blood—as potential submissions.
While the five official nominations and the ultimate Oscar recipient will be next year's surprises, the torturous wait and never-ending speculations will keep critics and New York Film Festival-goers on their toes in the months to come.
Here's a list of the films that have already been submitted for consideration:

AT THE KAPITOLYO IT IS BUSINESS AS USUAL FOR VICE-GOV. DANIEL FERNANDO

MONTAGE

By George Vail Kabristante

 PMPC(Phil.MoviePressClub)

From his blog "Manila Showbiz and Lifestyle" also farmed out in different versions to www.pmpcstarnews.com.ph Remate Online, Pilipino Mirror,  Scandal, CMT (Columnists Monitoring Team) Update, etc.

VICE-GOV. DANIEL FERNANDO
The big news if you still don’t know is that Philip Salvador who wanted to run Vice-Governor for the province of Bulacan against the incumbent colleague of his in showbiz  Vice-Governor Daniel Fernando is totally out in the running having been disqualified by the local court for reasons of inadequate residency, etc.
The issue is now moot and academic and Vice-Governor  Daniel Fernando still holds his fort strongly whoever would challenge him this coming local election in 2013.
So it is business as usual with Vice-Gov. Daniel Fernando at the Kapitolyo of Bulacan, Bulacan.
On |Tuesdays which is his people day,Vice-Gov. Fernando works his ass off to tend to the various needs of his constituents even way past the Cinderella hour.
This is also the time he relates with the local and mainstream media.
Being  one  of those who saw actor Daniel Fernando grew up in the milieu of showbiz, I thought of sharing a cultural blueprint with him in the way of cultural, environmental, educational empowerment total theater/ production workshop which would tap sectoral representatives from his constituency to include the Barangay level from the youth, professionals, adults and leaders to the NGOs and the POs as well.
The main objective of the workshop is to come out with a story material on the heroes of Bulacan with the workshoppers themselves as actors and others in the production staff to be showcased either as a stage play and/or digital film.
VICE-GOV. DANIEL FERNANDO  AFTER BEING SWORN IN TO OFFICE
The question of Gov. Fernando is how this workshop will generate income for his constituency?
          Easy does it.
Given the seed funding for the workshop, the first stage is to audition potential participants to maximize the use of human resource/talented participants as workshop scholars.
So participants go through the rigorous process of coming out with a workshop showcase which will put to practice their acquired talents in theater and/or production management including marketing their output, be it theater  production or digital film which they themselves will produce and shoot.
In the case of both the theatrical and digital production, the venture will be on cooperative and industrial partnership basis.
The training in marketing the product will be an introduction to the challenge of selling the output for commercial screening of the digital film nationwide or even for a particular audiences given that the SM Cinema Theater Circuits in their most recent memorandum are now open for at least  two commercial screenings  from one in the afternoon up  for independent film projects without being subjected to the “first day, last day” mandate for  films that don’t make good at the box-office.
Moreover, the various associations of Bulakenyos from abroad can be tapped as possible network overseas to market the independent film among the Filipino communities abroad with the end view to raise funds for charity back home and/or to continue in the production of indie films to generate more income and to make the initiative highly sustainable.
This is one way of re-affirming the potentials of the constituency at hand as agents in the direction of social, economic and cultural initiatives.
